Get Motivated to Lose Weight

Does anyone else struggle with motivation when it comes to weight loss? I’m pretty sure there’s not many people who struggle with motivation to eat more! But when calories are reduced it IS harder to stick to it especially when the weather is cold and dreary or you’re tired. When you’re tired that’s the time you are going to probably crave more sugary and “comfort” food.

It’s important to note you won’t ALWAYS be motivated and that’s OK, nobody is ALWAYS motivated BUT you form habits and you become dedicated to your goal. Your goal should mean more to you than 2 minutes of comfort food, next time you go to reach for something or what to lay on the sofa and eat a load of chocolate and biscuits think of your goal and your WHY.

 
What is your why?

Think about what you want to achieve, do you want to lose weight? Do you want to get fitter? Figure out what you want to achieve – write it down and then ask yourself WHY do I want to do this? Why do you want to lose weight? Why do you want to get fitter? Do you have a holiday coming up and you want to feel confident in a bikini? Do you have a wedding or special event and want to feel and look amazing in a dress? Maybe you’ve just come out of a long term relationship and want to feel better. It’s not always about how you look but how you feel too. Feeling happy in your own skin, feeling confident and healthy.

Once you have these written down, move onto your plan. So your long term plan may be your holiday or special event that could be say 6 months away. How are you going to get there? Write down monthly goals e.g. by month 1 I want to have completed “X” by month 2 “X”. Then I want you to write down 3 small goals every Monday or Sunday evening for the week ahead.

 

These could be little things such as:

I’m going to drink 2 litres of water every single day this week

I’m going to hit my protein goal every single day

I’m going to get all my workouts in this week

I’m going to take stairs instead of lift every day this week

I’m going to walk to the shops instead of drive

 

These little goals are what’s going to get you to your BIG goal. Take one day at a time and learn to enjoy the process, enjoy your food and enjoy your training. This should become more of a lifestyle for you and I promise you that you will feel amazing and everything will fall into place.

 

Please remember progress isn’t linear, you’ll have ups and downs, you won’t be perfect – no one is and that’s ok too. I want you to learn to love yourself, there is only one of YOU and that’s the beauty of it. You’re never going to look like the girl in the magazine, be pretty like you not pretty like her.

 

This week before you start I want you to look at yourself in the mirror and pick 1 thing you LIKE – write it down and each week remember this thing. After 1 month pick 3 things you LIKE.

 

I think sometimes we focus too much on parts of ourselves we don’t like, when actually there’s so many things we actually DO like but never focus on!
